Thanksgiving -

From the November 2012 issue of Sapphires, Rabbi Jonathan Cahn,

“The Pilgrims Sukkot”

It’s hard to imagine that the most American of feasts is actually Hebrew. But, Thanksgiving is actually that: the Hebrew Feast of Sukkot in American form, society in America was to be modeled after Israel of the Bible. They even considered making Hebrew the national language. They saw that Israel would always celebrate the harvest with the Feast of Sukkot or Tabernacles. The Feast of Tabernacles, which always occurred in the autumn was when Israel would give thanks to God for all its blessings. So Thanksgiving is really a Jewish holiday – the Feast of Sukkot on American soil. The point is Thanksgiving is not only  a traditional  American holiday – it’s Biblical. It’s ordained by God, for all those who are Jewish in spirit, children of Abraham – and not just as a holiday but as a way of life. The evidence of having received a gift is the giving of thanks. So if you’ve received salvation your life has to be one big thanksgiving. As it is written, in everything give thanks. Give thanks in everything and every day of your life.

Todays Mission: Celebrate the Feast of Thanksgiving and the Feast of Sukkot –by taking account of all your blessings and give thanks to God.

1 Chron 29:13 Now therefore, our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious name and those attributes which that name denotes. AMP

Faith is for -

Sometimes, God will light something on the inside of you in the times you least expect a revelation to drop into your spirit. I was attending a meeting where one of the main speakers mentioned a little nugget about a verse in 1 Peter chapter 1. He just casually mentioned that it is interesting how the King James translators would insert words into the text to help emphasize or give “deeper” meaning to the word or phrase. They were just trying to bring out more clarity as to the real intent of the author.

He mentioned 1 Peter 1:9 and in the KJV it reads as follows:

1 Peter 1:9 receiving the end of your  faith, even the salvation of your  souls.                               KJV

Notice that the two words in italics (bolded by me) are added by the translators. I wrote the verse out without the italicized words and it took on a whole new meaning and reads like this

1 Peter 1:9 …receiving the end of your faith, the salvation of souls.               KJV

WOW!!! We are to use our faith to lead sinners to Jesus. If you read from verse 1 of chapter1, the entire context is talking about the Good News of believing on Him who we cannot see but receive by faith. We then transfer that “faith” to others by telling them about what we believe, by faith, about the Son of God that we cannot see, but believe in.

So then the Holy Spirit reminded me of Matthew 6:33. Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.      KJV

He began to reveal to me that a kingdom is not buildings, businesses, castles and all the “things” in the kingdom, but rather the kingdom is about the King and His people. The Kingdom does not function without people. The things are a side issue and come as a reward for doing the kingdom work, which is the salvation of souls because, quite frankly, without people (souls) the things are useless.

These souls are what populate the Kingdom of God! Think about it, everything we will ever need is already supplied in heaven for us to exist with God eternally. All we have to do is become children of the King and we do that through believing that Jesus died, was buried and is resurrected for the door to be open to heaven so we may walk in and partake of the things of God that are eternal. Now I wasn’t there when these events took place, but I believe them because God revealed it through his witnesses on earth and I accepted their account of the facts put forth in the Bible.

Now I may ruffle a few feathers here, but our faith should be directed at winning souls primarily and if we pour our faith into believing we can win others for the Kingdom all the rest becomes a side issue. The things are added because of our faith in the Son of God and our ability to effectively share that faith. This is God pleasing faith and it carries a reward here on earth.

All of the men and women in the “hall of faith” (Hebrews chapter 11) believed God and His testimony to them of who he is and declared His righteous salvation through Jesus Christ, even to the point of death. God used them mightily when His Spirit came upon them, but we have an even better deal in that the Holy Spirit dwells in us and empowers us 24/7/365. They did not see Jesus but believed and reported His coming. That is what we should declare because we have literally not seen with our eyes Jesus the man who walked on earth, yet we believe.  Jesus said He would manifest Himself to the believer and this He does, time and time again. He becomes real because of the report by faith of those who walked with Him and those who looked for His first coming.

Jesus is coming again and we must tell others so that they can be partakers of the heavenly calling. Don’t worry, my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in Glory by Christ Jesus. You can count on it so let’s get to work and declare the Kingdom of God is here now!

Be Heavenly Minded

Col 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

2 Set your affection on things above , not on things on the earth.3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God    .     KJV

Here the Apostle Paul urges us to live our lives according to the new citizenship we have been adopted into. Jesus paid an amazing price for our rights to access the heavenly realm and to procure the benefits of the Kingdom of God. How do we access this place of blessing?

First you need to become a child of God. You do this by admitting your shortcomings, well a better term would be sin, and ask  God to forgive you of all your sin believe He has forgiven ALL of your sin. Then ask Jesus to come into your life and live His life in you. This being done, you can now ask for the promise of the Father that Jesus sent on the day of Pentecost. Ask Jesus to fill you with His Holy Spirit and He, the Holy Spirit, will teach you everything you need to know about Jesus and help you to remember everything He has taught you.

Now the scripture says, in Paul’s letter to the Colossians that because of Jesus finished work at Calvary we have been made “citizens” of heaven.  “Col 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:       KJV”

If we then are citizens, we have the right to “citizenship” and the definition is as follows:

cit·i·zen·ship   /ˈsɪtəzənˌʃɪp, -sən-/ Show Spelled[sit-uh-zuhn-ship, -suhn-]

noun 1. the state of being vested with the rights, privileges, and duties of a citizen.

2. the character of an individual viewed as a member of society; behavior in terms of the duties, obligations, and functions of a citizen: an award for good citizenship.

The following is the Bible definition of citizenship:

Citizenship definition

the rights and privileges of a citizen in distinction from a foreigner (Luke 15:15; 19:14; Acts 21:39). Under the Mosaic law non-Israelites, with the exception of the Moabites and the Ammonites and others mentioned in Deut. 23:1-3, were admitted to the general privileges of citizenship among the Jews (Ex. 12:19; Lev. 24:22; Num. 15:15; 35:15; Deut. 10:18; 14:29; 16:10, 14). The right of citizenship under the Roman government was granted by the emperor to individuals, and sometimes to provinces, as a favour or as a recompense for services rendered to the state, or for a sum of money (Acts 22:28). This "freedom" secured privileges equal to those enjoyed by natives of Rome. Among the most notable of these was the provision that a man could not be bound or imprisoned without a formal trial (Acts 22:25, 26), or scourged (16:37). All Roman citizens had the right of appeal to Caesar (25:11).

So, the bottom line is, worship, pray and seek God, for he who seeks finds. Knock on the door of heaven and it will open. Step through the open door (Revelation 4:1) and let the God of the universe have awesome intimate fellowship with you and you will reap the benefits of your heavenly home. You can then bring the things you see, learn and know back into this earthly realm and be a blessing to those around you. Jesus has procured access to the throne of God through His blood so we need to take advantage of our God given rights and privileges because of Jesus finished work.

Death to the selfish nature and living for the Love of God that cannot fail will make our life here on earth a more joyous one.  Enjoy the journey and don’t forget to call home on a daily basis. The God of the Universe is waiting for you to contact Him.

Sons of God, maybe not!

In Pau's letter to the Ephesian church, he says something that provoked a thought in me. Ephesians 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will. So the apparent assumption on the surface is that we are all children of God because this is what he predestined for us and therefore we have a right to heaven. According to this verse, we are all predestined to be God's children. But wait a minute, if we are all God's children, then what need is there for adoption. Adoption in this case indicates that we are apparently not in the family of God until Jesus atoning sacrifice is invoked into our lives by our believing in and trusting His substitution for our death sentence. This faith in the Son of God and His atoning sacrifice pleases God and He adopts us into His family.

This creates a major problem for those who believe we are all children of God and will ultimately end up in heaven. The word adoption is key in this instance. Jesus made a profound statement in the Gospel of John,

John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a a liar , and the father of it.

Wait a minute, He is addressing the Jews of His time and he is calling them sons of the devl! Remember back in Genesis when Adam and Eve fell from grace and were cast out of the Garden of Eden. In Chapter 5 when you read the genealogy of Adam, you find that Adam was the son of God, but Seth was the son of Adam and the succeeding generations were sons of their fathers in the flesh. (notice Cane is not mentioned in this geneology) This means that humanity was now replicating itself and this was a flawed process from Seth on until now. The human race had degenerated to a lower form of life than had been created from the start.

So, you and I are either a child of the devil or a child of God. When you trust in Jesus, you are adopted into the family of God and you not only are welcome into the household of God, but you receive the same rights as Sonship. We become co-equals with Jesus Christ and joint heirs to the Kingdom of Heaven. We have the same access to God as if we were born into the family naturally. How absolutely incredible is that. Think about what Jesus paid for with His life so we could enjoy the benefits of God's household.

So, you have a choice to make, you are either a son of the devil or you can acknowledge your shortcomings and accept Jesus work for you at Calvary to become an adopted heir to all the things that God has.

Go ahead, ask God to forgive you of all your sins and ask Jesus to be Lord of your life. Then have Jesus fill you with His mighty Holy Spirit so you can live a victorious Christian life. Find a good church that flows with the Spirit of God and read your Bible every day. God will adopt you into His family!

One Way

John 14:6

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way , the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.   KJV

In this passage, Jesus makes it abundantly clear that there is no other way to get to heaven and that He is the only way. I find it interesting that there are literally 10's of thousands of religions in the world today claiming to have "the way to heaven or some other "Karma." Jesus also claimed in Matt 7:13-14 "13 Enter ye in at the strait gate : for wide is the gate , and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate , and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.      KJV

The way of the world is broad and the gate is wide. Easy to walk and meander around and not a problem to enter. The issue is, what is beyond the wide gate. It is not certain what, but the result is a forever settled deal. Destruction! I have actually had the statement directed at me about "my religion" or directed at me regarding God to the effect that it is pretty narrow minded to provide only one way to heaven. In reality, this is partially true in that, yes it is narrow minded, but not in the sense of my way or the highway, but because God understands the nature of man. He is fully aware of the shortcomings of the human condition so he determined that it would be best to have only one way to heaven because if he gave us two choices, we would all die go to hell debating which is the best way.

Not only did God in His infinite mercy and grace, give us one path to follow, but also gave us the road map to life so we could enjoy the journey. He even gave us a GPS (God's Positioning System) or the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us through life. He gave us the answer to all our questions, the Scriptures in the form of the modern Bible. Notice I said "enjoy the Journey." Yes God wants us to enjoy life and he provided for us to have an abundant life full of all the benefits of heaven here on earth.

So I will leave you with the answer to life's questions, "Choose Life!" That life is in Jesus Christ and no other. So simple that we have to be taught to misunderstand it.
